Opa! It's Melissa's Greek Bunko!

The invitation went out last month to those on the bunko list. There were no promises of dance lessons, or a "craft", just the delicious menu and company of our hottie hostess and one of The Crosby's most incredible chefs, Melissa!

Her elegant, candle-lit, poolside patio was the venue for this month's bunko, which by Melissa's selection, had a "Greek" theme. I was completely prepared to don a toga, but was told that it only applied to the food that was being prepared. Those would have been some funny photos!

I arrived a bit late, but was pleasantly surprised to see that the food was just being presented. With the help of her honorary "sous chef", Nora Balikian, the dishes made their way to the counter of her outdoor pavilion.

A gorgeous Greek salad presented to the musical stylings of the Black Eyed Peas started it off the party! "I've Got A Feeling" that tonight's gonna be a good night, too, Fergie!

The the lamb and chicken kebabs were a delight beyond words!

Homemade tzatziki, tomato and feta salad,

GIANT spanikopita,

followed by torte brownies and some homemade Baklava that would rival any Greek bakery!

Check out all the delicious dishes!
The evening ran well past 10 p.m....unusual for a Bunko. It seemed no one wanted to leave this magical event. Thank you, Melissa, for hosting!
Enjoy the photos, and Opa!
Love you all,
Lisalicious

Delicias!

Yet another wonderful Ladies Night Out for the Crosbyotches! This month Melissa picked a real winner! We went "down the street" to Delicias in "downtown Rancho". This place is everything the name implies! Wonderful ambience, great food, and entertaining visitors made it a night to remember! We missed some of our regulars...hope to see you next month!

Diana and Kat

Cathi and Diana

Nora and Cathi

The blazing fireplace kept us toasty, and was a lovely visual!

My friend, the "Vodka-Cranberry"...it's good for you, isn't it?! Like fruits and veggies... the Cranberry is fruit and Vodka is made from potatoes, right?! I am convinced.

I saw the sign...and had to try it out!

Lisa and Nariman

Dina, Lisa, and Melissa

Then the "Expletive Sisters" arrived to "tell us all about MEN". Too funny!

Check out Nariman's expression! Even funnier!!

What a fun night! Let's go back soon!

February Ladies Night Out

Melissa and Dina

Lisa and Kat

Keeping it close to home this month, our new organizer Melissa planned an intimate soiree' for us at our beautiful club restaurant! Dina, Kat, Lauren, Melissa and I were happy to have a few hours to enjoy each other's company and "catch up on life" in the private dining room of the main restaurant.

We dined on delicious Salmon and salads called the "Mrs. Gill" salad...romaine lettuce, tomato, cucumber, with baked chicken fingers on top (YUMMY!!!). Add sorbet for dessert, some great conversations, and viola! An event to remember!

Thanks, Melissa!

BTW, ladies...don't forget to join Country Friends if you are going to do so...the Spring Luncheon is in April, and will be a fun time! It only costs $40 to join, and it's a great organization! Enjoy the pix!

Annette Caton's Fat Tuesday Bunko!

OMG!!! Did I survive?!! Are you sure?!!! OK, it's taken me nearly a week to post these party pix, and with good reason!

Our beautiful hostess, Annette, made some killer (and I do mean KILLER!!!) Hurricanes with a mix from Pat and Oscar's. I don't know what the heck was in those things, but they rocked my world, and I only had two! (that I can remember!)

Thank GOD I took this photo while I still had my wits about me...and thank GOD for auto-focus! What a fun bunch!

Yeah, that's me in the middle with one of the Hurricane's in my hand...before they "kicked in", obviously...unless the lovely Dina is actually holding me up.

Melissa has her traditional wine. She's smart AND beautiful.

Cathi's got a " 'cane", and Annette has one in the special cup Cathi brought her! Kat was smart, and only drank Tobasco sauce! Ha, ha, ha!

Diana and her sister were all ready to PAR-TAY!!

Marky-Mark, you trying to sneak out?!

Julie, Care-bear, and Melissa are all smiles!

Dina, Cathi, and Melissa are having fun!

Question: How come when Cathi gets beads, they're Chanel?! Must ask Larry if they're really that awesome! BTW, Cath, your hair is so shiny! Just gorgeous!!!

There were festive Mardi Gras decorations all around her beautiful home!

Fresh Beignets (Cajun doughnuts) from Jolene were too tempting...I lost my resolve and ate three. Had to.
They made a lovely appetizer! The trick is to eat them while they are hot, so waiting until dessert was out of the question!

Annette made a Cajun "boil" of potatoes, shrimp, clams, celery, lobster, and other yummies! Delish!!

The crabmeat salad atop endive from Annette's neighbor was amazingly scrumptious!
I didn't even get a photo of the dessert table, nor did I get to eat any dessert unless you count my "beignet salad". (What?!)
From what I recall, Lauren brought her scrumptious home-made red-velvet cupcakes, Julie brought MORE red-velvet cupcakes with truffles, and I decorated my traditional brownies with purple, gold, and green icing rosettes. I truly can't remember much else. Sorry!

Birds of a feather!

Me and my "fake sister" Lauren. Why does it look like I dipped my hair in orange paint?!

Did I fall into some hot sauce?! I thought it was just the bushes on the way out of Annette's house!?!

Lauren, Annette, and Jolene whoopin' it up!

Yeah, those Hurricane's are really starting to work!! I now have Jolene and Julie holding me up on the left, and Annette and Lauren supporting me on the right. It only gets worse. Or better, depending upon your point of view. Did I mention I had to take three five year old girls to
Disneyland in the morning? Yeah. Thanks for the ride home, Lauren...I owe you HUGE!
We all got beads, and didn't even have to show anyone our "girls"! How about them apples?!
It was a fabulous party, Annette! You're da bomb!! xoxo!

Cari White's Christmas Bunco

What a fun-filled event! The always classy Cari hosted the holiday bunco AGAIN, and we couldn't have been happier! The Kahlua didn't hurt, either! Yes, Cari, I noticed...thank you ever so much! The formal dining table overflowed with delicious appetizers contributed by the guests, with yummy desserts, coffee, tea and "beverages" offered by the hostess.

The gift exchange was the highlight of the night, with Nora scoring a great cocktail ring. Corene chose a lovely grey ruffled wrap, and Dina made off with a collection of sparkly chocolate colored Christmas ornaments! The gifts were varied and fabulous, and too numerous to mention! I got the best one, though...a leopard print snuggie! I am stoked! Have used it every night since! (No joke, Lauren!)

A love affair was born between Melissa and her "blinged" flask...a gift apparently intended for her birthday by Dina, so all's well that ends well. I am jealous of the gift, but am hopeful that one will show up at my birthday party!

Thanks again to all who participated, and to our dear Cari! Enjoy the vid!

Lisa :)

Firenze' Frenzy! - November 17th, 2009

Or should I say "Friends-y"? Yeah, it was pretty much the core group as we hit the town in Encinitas for our most recent Crosby Ladies Night Out. After some rescheduling and a change in venue, we settled on the always delicious Firenze' Trattoria. Last year, we had our biggest turnout of the year at this place. Turns out the food is still as yummy as ever, and no matter our group size, there is always fun to be had!

So glad we went outside to pose by the fountain...LOL!

Insalata Caprese, I think...

Which "DISH" is more delish?!

Annette and Melissa

Nariman and Dina

Melissa with Kat who had tea and cranberry juice with her dinner. Yeah.

Note to Melissa's husband: Dave, quit shackeling our buzz!

Lauren and Erika

Our waiter, "Antonio Banderas" (Cliff). In this "amazing Iphone photo" from Melissa, actually kind of reminds me of Sassan, Dina's hubby. Very nice!
We'll be back next year, Firenze'!
